Plastic is Fantastic!

With a bunch of celebrity's front row, the Barbie Fall '09 fashion show was definitely a knock-out!

Heidi Klum, Diane von Furstenberg, Jeffrey Banks, Stephen Cole of the CFDA, Bob Mackie, Peter Som, The blonds, Annie Leibovitz with her daughters, power gays Simon Doonan and Jonathan Adler, Mattel Creative Director Robert Best and Robert Verdi were there to support the barbie show.

The iconic doll celebrated 50 years with a runway show featuring look created by 50 American designers, including Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Anna Sui and Diane von Furstenberg. The world's top models brought the doll to life in three themed wardrobe sets. The first looks were a tribute to the retro dolls of the 50's and 60's followed by a Malibu Barbie-inspired crop with big hair and tanned skin, and the finale featured edgier looks with clear plastic toppers that gave the audience a peek into Barbie's bright future.

Diane von Furstenberg about Barbie: ' Barbie represents a confident and independent woman with an amazing ability to have fun while remaining glamorous.'

The audience was full of excited little girls on their mothers' laps and many Barbie lookalikes in pink dresses, blond ponytails, even a pink wig.

They show started off with a 5 minute long video of all Barbie's fabulousness. Beneath a crystal chandelier the first model posed.

The party ended with a parade of models holding the hands of little girls dressed in brightly colored tutus and white Barbie logo tops, while sparkling confetti rained down on the birthday fete.

The clothes were designed by designers such as: Alexander Wang, Anna Sui, Baby Phat, Badgley Mischka, Betsey Johnson, Bob Mackie, Brian Reyes, Calvin Klein, Carmen Marc Valvo, Catherine Malandrino, Chris Benz, Costello Tagliapietra, Derek Lam, Diane von Furstenberg, Donna Karan, Erin Fetherston, House of Field, Jeremy Scott, Juicy Couture, Kai Kuhne, Kenneth Cole, Koi Suwannagate, Lyn Devon, Marchesa, Michael Kors, Monique Lhuillier, Naeem Khan, Nanette Lepore, Nicole Miller, Norma Kamali, Peter Som, Rachel Roy, Rag & Bone, Rebecca Taylor, Reem Acra, Rosa Cha, The Blonds, Three As Four, Tibi, Tommy Hilfiger, Tory Burch, Tracy Reese, Trina Turk, Tuleh, Twinkle, Vena Cava, Vera Wang, Vivienne Tam, Yeohlee, Yigal Azrouel.

Badgley Mischka takes you back to the 1930's Berlin!

Designers Mark Badgley and James Mischka showcase their fall 2009 collection. This fall collection the designers were inspired by the Berlin's 1930's, a time of uncertainty but where women still wanted to look their best.
The collection includes beautiful one-shoulder cocktail dresses in vibrant colors such as ruby red and a marine blue. Black gowns graced the runway that had beaded bodices in gold and black but one dreamy addition - tulle and chiffon overlays! The show's closing piece, the 'Galaxy' gown, was spotted gold pieces throughout with a tulle overlay.
This year's New York Fall Fashion Week seemed like a rebirth of the old and tweaking of the new. Badgley Mishka definately followed the trend and added some of their own flavor into this fashion mix!

Alexandre Herchcovitch brings "Metropolian Chaos" into his new Fall collection!

Born in the chaos of Sao Paulo, Alexandre Herchcovitch decided to take his roots into this fall collection. While Kanye West was sitting front row, Herchcovitz unveiled his collection at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion week in New York.

In his new collection the Brazilian designer mixed multiple silhouettes in a single piece of clothing. The theme continued through to the accessoires: Models carried 'pieces of the city' in their hands in the form of stone-shaped minaudières.

Herchcovitzch designed a smaller-than-normal collection following the fall 2009 trend with several architectural pieces, balanced by soft and flowing ruffle dresses. Half-shoulder fur shawls added a much needed pizazz to the closing structural black garments.

Adam Lippes turns east for inspiration!

Inspired by a Japanese photography exhibition at the Peabody Museaum in Boston, ADAM showcased this Fall 2009 Collection.

While other designers’ drab and dismal collections mirror the state of the economy right now, ADAM by Adam Lippes went against the grain and shot bursts of color right up the runway. The vibrant hues of the cherry blossoms, combined with the rich textures of the Samurais' uniforms and bold prints of the geishas' kimonos formed the basis for the collection, and certainly impacted the hair and makeup looks.

A basic black dress was given a drawstring neck with cutout detail and unexpectedly paired with cranberry tights. In addition, ADAM incorporated delicate details like embroidered Japanese cherry blossoms against a lush blue silk backdrop, gold embroidery down the side of a winter white shift, carefully crafted ruffles on a metallic skirt and an incredibly textural basketweave-detailed sweatshirt to give the feel of Japanese armor.
